I see temps for the head as high as 223 fahrenheit in my mustang although it usually stays between 185 and 209 fahrenheit most of the time. The coolant temp was well within normal operating limits and the cht did drop back around 198 or so when i left. Also does the heat affect the turbo more as in does it hinder it. If not then straight up temperature is ok.
I also found this on the web regarding the cht. Not from the coolant temperature sensor. Coolant enters the engine at the left hand driver cylinder head at the thermostat and reaches exhaust valves on both heads first before flowing into the rest of the engine. That sounds completely normal. Soooooooo the temperature as reported by the pcm is from the cylinder head temperature sensor. The general rule for cylinder head temp is that it is around 10 15 degrees hotter than coolant temp which puts your coolant around 195 200 which is just right.
Was just wondering why there were no color indicators like on the oil temp guage. 223 degrees is a little elevated but that can happen when you have higher ambient temps.
