If the switch that was there is a standard light switch with two brass screws on it and one green screw you can connect the red wire to either of the brass screws. None are hot unless the other light switch is turned on in which one of the reds is hot. The two reds together in a connector.

Unfortunately i removed all the wires from the switch. Green yellow earths together. One of the blacks is a switch wire the other is the neutral.
If you have a ground wire connect the ground wire to the green screw. The switch looks like this. Light switch has red and black wires. Yep just transfer the wires across to the new switch connecting them to the same terminals as they are now. There were 2 red and 2 black wires connected to the 4 terminals. It has 4 wires 2 red and 2 black the 2 black go to two different common terminals and the 2 red go to two different l2 terminals what type of switch is this and how do i replace it as the new switches only have two terminals l1 and l2 this is the only switch for the kitchen light so it is not a 2 way switch or anything like that.
I tested the other wires on the hot red to see which turn the light on and thats one of the black wires. Connect the 2 black wires 1each to the brass screws on the new switch. Connect the black wire to the other brass screw. But it was a switch with 2 terminals on each side 1 ground. 12 22 12 at 0453 pm.
