Lower ball joint won t seat. Moog lower ball joints wont seat. Seems to have worked well but im not 100 certain i have fully seated the ball joint. Hi all pressed some new ball joints into my front lower control arms but they fall out as soon as i tap the arm with a hammer. 1 of 2 go to page. Bottom ball joint wont seat properly ive now changed the whole passenger side wishbone assembly however i cant get the bottom ball joint to seat properly. The torque sequence starts with the lower if you cant get the taper to seat you may have a knuckle with an enlarged taper.
I cant get the nut to tighten anymore but theres still about 18 to go. Unless you use a proper jig to hold the arm it is every easy to deform the arm in the press and then the new balljoint wont seathold correctly. The top knuckle surface is not flat so the joint wont look. Jump to latest follow 1 20 of 21 posts. The flange on the joint that shoulders down onto the spindle looks almost flush with the spindle on the near side but is raised slightly on the farside recessed back in the inaccessible area. The press wont get it to stay im missing something here.
Joined oct 1 2014 135 posts. But i know how to fix it if theyre the lower ones. Previously i paid someone at a suspension shop to do it for me and. Give us a call for all your suspension lighting and wheel needs. The ball joint press kits wont get them all the way down but if you use the cup between the jack the annulus of the bj it makes it fast easy. Would you mind posting a pic of what youve got so far.
I ask because i can slide the new ball joint into the hole and put a little hand pressure on it and it fully seats. Put a jack under the lower bj and hammer on the lower control arm to force it to seat.
